Dr. Jessica Christy grew up as a competitive swimmer in Jackson, Michigan. She attended Michigan State University, where she received her degree in Zoology and rowed on the crew team. She was accepted to the University of Detroit-Mercy and obtained her Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree (DDS) from there in 2007.
Upon graduation, she entered the Air Force and immediately began the competitive and challenging Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program at Keesler AFB, MS. This residency provided her with advanced training in all specialties of dentistry including endodontics (root canals), surgery (including challenging wisdom teeth), and sedation (oral and IV), among others.
After her residency, she was stationed at Randolph AFB in San Antonio, Texas. While there she deployed as part of Operation Enduring Freedom to Bagram, Afghanistan where she provided care for our troops, the troops of allied nations, and detainees.
Following the completion of her active duty service in 2010, Dr. Christy returned to Mississippi with her husband while he finished his career in the Air Force. During that time she practiced as a civilian contract dentist in the Air Force and in a busy private practice as an associate dentist.
After her husband’s retirement, she began to look for her forever home. A good friend introduced her to WNC and she, and her family fell in love. They instantly knew this was where they would raise their family. She is overjoyed to have purchased Dr. Richards’s practice and help him transition into retirement. It’s her privilege to serve his wonderful patients.
Dr. Christy maintains a robust continuing education program and is currently enrolled at the University of Southern California in their Master’s program for Orofacial Pain and Oral Medicine. This degree focuses on the special care of advanced cases of TMJ disorder and other non-tooth related pains of the head and neck. It’s a focus that will greatly benefit her patients and neighbors in the community.
Her time away from the office is spent raising her two young children with her husband. She stays very busy with the practice and her Master’s program and looks forward to exploring all those mountain activities soon!
Most of all, Dr. Christy strives to provide compassionate, quality care to all of her patients in Hendersonville, NC. She wants to build life-long relationships with them and strives to make every appointment a great experience. She looks forward to showing you all of her improvements in the office and carrying on Dr. Richard’s legacy of outstanding care.
